I love grilling fruit, it makes an excellent accompaniment to my mains. With a bit of chantilly cream (whipped cream and sugar), grilled fruits make an excellent dessert.
For the days that I don’t want to leave my grilled fruits plain and want to amplify it with more sweetness, this sugar rub will do just that.
In a bowl, add 1 cup of brown sugar and 4 teaspoons of cinnamon. That’s it! If you are adding the sugar mixture to your fruits already, then you understand how delicious this is.
For an Asian twist, I add in 1 tablespoon of Chinese 5 spice to the cinnamon sugar mixture. It transforms the flavours with a hint of cloves, star anise with warm and spicy notes. The recipe is enough for 1 large pineapple so adjust the amount based on the amount of fruit you have.
Mix the rub and sprinkle the mixture on your fruit while grilling.
