After a long day of shopping at the outlet malls in Niagara Falls, NY, I was ready for a filling and tasty meal. The selection of restaurants by the outlet at about 3:00pm on a weekday was slim. There were either big chained restaurants like Chilis nearby or fast-food restaurants.
We happen to find The Griffon Gastropub by surprise, as we stumbled upon it as we drove by. We were in for a real treat as it was exactly the place we were looking for.
The decor was spacious, it looked very clean, it had beautiful ceilings and the menu offerings were plenty.
This had to be the most kid-friendly pub I have been to. The waitress bought over a high chair immediately, followed by a box of markers and crayons, and a full colouring book for my daughter. The items on the children’s menu was only $4.99 and the portions were massive!
My husband and I both ordered a burger, as they are made fresh in-house with freshly ground chuck, short rib and sirloin and was made to order. My cheeseburger with a slice of pepper jack cheese was juicy. My husband had the maple bourbon bacon jam burger and was thoroughly impressed. Good quality meat grinded and seasoned in-house did make a difference in taste and quality!
With the entrees, rather than the typical fries and salad option, I had a choice of many tasty sides like coconut ginger basmati rice, Yukon gold mashed potatoes, onion rings, sweet potato fries tossed in honey butter, smoked Gouda shells and cheese (mac and cheese). I ordered the root beer baked beans with my burger and it came with large chunks of bacon!
As for my daughter, the grilled cheese sandwich with a side of fries was more than she could eat. What a great deal! Did I mention it was only $4.99?
The pub is worth a visit! Bonus points being a kid friendly pub.
