Address: 1427 Kingston Road Scarborough, ON
Event Date: July 21st, 2016, 7 to 10 pm
My blogger friend Carole Nelson Brown of the The Yum Yum Factor Blog is a superstar. Aside from having a successful blog, she is an amazing recipe developer, excellent cook, teaches classes at Loblaws and also hosts wicked dinners at The Kingston Social.
The Kingston Social is located in a quiet neighbourhood in Scarborough on Kingston Rd. The space is also a gallery and has a full kitchen to hosts supper clubs and popup dinners. Their goal is “to support and encourage up and coming artists as well as professional artists who are looking to engage with local creative spaces” (source: The Kingston Social).
As their resident Chef, Carole has hosted several supper clubs at the Kingston Social and I had the opportunity to check out the July dinner.
Carole served us a Mediterranean feast with a Caribbean twist with dishes including gazpacho with pickled shrimp, beef/mushroom patties, dips, olives and homemade labneh, jerk lamb koftas with a side tabbouleh and roasted vegetables with tahini, followed by a cardamom orange cake trifle.
The koftas were the best I have ever eaten as they were cooked medium rare and popping flavours. The meal came with a grapeftuit cocktail. Additional alcoholic drinks could be purchased.
It was worth $65 per person. I was beyond stuffed and the food was incredible! Everyone at the dinner including the owners made me feel like family (I came alone) and I even made some new foodie friends.
I hope to attend another of Carole’s dinners and you should too. I am hoping to cook at the Kingston Social eventually, so hope you will support me when that time comes!
