Address: Daniels Spectrum, 585 Dundas St. E., Toronto, ON
Event Date: March 29th, 2017, 6 pm to 8 pm
The annual Dixonlicious was held at Daniel Spectrum in support of Dixon Hall’s vital food programs. Dixon Hall is a multi-service non-profit in Toronto, focusing on the downtown east and the Regent Park area. Programs include the “Meals on Wheels”, where nutritious food options are delivered to an individual’s home by volunteers. In fact, 66,000 nutritious meals were delivered to frail, isolated seniors through the “Meals on Wheels” program.
Last year, Dixonlicious raised over $74,000, which allowed Dixon Hall to provide more than 20,000 meals to people in need. I am hoping that Dixon Hall reached their fundraising goals during the delicious event, and I encourage you read more about their neighbourhood services and impact on the community at http://dixonhall.org. Your donation will truly make an impact.
The event was successful with many food stations that included The Food Dudes, Hooked, Hawthorne Food and Drink, Show Love Cafe, George Brown College, Longo’s, and Daniel Et Daniel, as well as several beverage vendors. I enjoyed that the line ups were short, and that my blogger friends and I were able to secure a small table to eat comfortably. The evening also included a live and silent auction, and live entertainment from The Matt Morgan Trio. The live band was phenomenal and really set the tone and the atmosphere for a classy evening.
Food highlights for me included:
Daniel Et Daniel– Chili fry spring roll
East coast oysters from Hooked
George Brown College– Spicy mango shrimp with mango salsa
Hawthorne Food and Drink – Enright Cattle Co. Beef pot stickers presented by Executive Chef Ricky Casipe
Come out to next year’s Dixonlicious! You will have a great time supporting a charitable cause, plus there is a charitable receipt included with the purchase of the ticket.
